From Idea to Inquiry: Gen AI in Scholarly Work In-Person
Join us for a conversation about using GenAI during the preparatory and data collection stages of your research, scholarly, and creative works (e.g., idea generation, literature discovery, design, planning, and data collection). Together we will explore both the opportunities and limitations of these tools, with a focus on privacy, tool selection, ethical, transparent, and responsible use that prioritizes research integrity, quality, and critical human judgment.
Please feel free to bring your lunch. We will provide coffee.
Here are some guiding questions to get our conversation started.
- At what point in the research lifecycle are you most curious about using AI?
- When you’re selecting an AI tool for your research purposes, what factors are you considering?
- How do you document your research design process without GenAI and what additional documentation may be required when GenAI is used in that design?
- Can your experiences working with students, research assistants and collaborators help guide how you review and engage with GenAI outputs in the research process?
- As a member of a collaborative team, what discussions might be important to have regarding the use of GenAI in the planning and data collection stages of a research project?
- What support or guidance would help you feel more confident in making decisions about the responsible use of generative AI when planning your research, scholarly, or artistic project?
These workshops will not be recorded, as they rely on in-person participation.
