Productive Disagreements: Talking about Politics During Volatile Times In-Person

The word “Argument” is often seen in a negative light, but it doesn't have to be this way. Can we have disagreements, and arguments, productively? Can people change their minds based on informal debate? The 20th-century philosopher, Daniel Dennet, once said the best first step in disagreements is the reproducing of an argument faithfully. So well, in fact, that the arguer says they could not have said it better themselves. From there, a productive argument can be had. In this workshop, we will discuss the value of disagreement and how to disagree so that fruitful outcomes can be met, even if that outcome is just understanding.
